Why does my label print with ugly pixelated small dots?

Small dots and poor quality are often due to a mismatch between Label LIVE and the printer driver.

Design Considerations

If you are importing text or barcode images, we strongly recommend using Label LIVE's own text and barcode objects. Importing images bypasses Label LIVE's quality assurances.

Label Size Mismatch

Check the label dimensions within Label LIVE and make sure it matches the default page size within the selected printer driver.

Why is my label printing too small or too large?

The printer driver's default paper (page) size must match your label dimensions.

Printer DPI Mismatch

Make sure your printer's DPI matches the DPI on the Print tab of Label LIVE.

Optimizing Print Quality

Verify PDF Output

Switch to Print Preview (Print tab) and generate a PDF. If the PDF looks better than the print output, the solution is to adjust the printer driver's size settings.

Threshold Dithering

From the Print tab, make sure the dither setting is set to Threshold.
